Meet The Trustees

Who we are

Meet The Trustees

At the heart of Warrington VIP is a dedicated Board of Trustees—seven passionate individuals from across the Warrington community who bring a wealth of lived experience, insight, and commitment to VIP. Among them are two trustees with a visual impairment, several former councillors (including a former Mayor), volunteer drivers, and even a family member of one of our beneficiaries.

Together, they meet on the afternoon of the third Wednesday of each month to guide the direction and ensure the smooth running of our small but impactful charity.

A few of them prefer to stay out of the spotlight—but we’re delighted to introduce five of our not-so-bashful trustees below!

Trustee & Volunteer

Janet Bates

I first got involved with The VIP over 10 years ago after constantly bumping into a lovely member called Rose — she finally persuaded me to give the lunch club a try, and I’ve never looked back! I absolutely love the place, the people, the atmosphere, and the amazing team who keep it all running.

A couple of years ago, I decided to become a trustee so I could bring the voice of the lunch club straight to the board. I like to stay active, and volunteering both as a trustee and at fundraising events is a great way to do that — plus my granddaughter Amelia loves getting stuck in alongside me!

Trustee & Volunteer Driver

Frederick J. Parkinson

Born in Warrington, Fred’s career in engineering and fabrication took him across industries and continents before co-founding Premier Installation M/CR Ltd, where he worked until retiring in 2020.

Inspired by the support his visually impaired mother received from Warrington VIP,

Fred began volunteering as a driver and soon became a trustee, bringing his skills and big heart to every task. Whether he’s behind the wheel or lending a hand, Fred is a valued member of the team—and when he’s not volunteering, he’s busy enjoying time with his four grandchildren (and handing them back when he’s done!).

Trustee & Volunteer Driver

Dave Latham

Dave Latham, a trustee of Warrington VIP, is a former electrician and National Service Manager (UK & Ireland) for one of the world’s largest specialists in infection control equipment within the healthcare sector. In this role, he managed a nationwide team of 30 field service engineers, overseeing a £2 million budget, customer relations, and HR matters within the department.

Now retired, Dave wanted to give something back to the community and chose Warrington VIP, having personal experience of supporting a visually impaired relative.

For nearly two years, he has been a dedicated volunteer driver for the lunch club, providing vital transport for members. Recognising his commitment, Warrington VIP recently invited Dave to join the board of trustees—an opportunity he accepted without hesitation.

Chair, Warrington VIP

Geoff Settle MSc

Geoff Settle is the Chair of Warrington VIP and a retired software engineer with a background as a Chartered Information Systems professional. He brings a wealth of leadership experience, having previously served as Chair of Warrington Athletic Club and as a School Governor. Since retiring in 2007, Geoff has remained active in the community as a business mentor, VIP driver, and TT race marshal.

Elected as a Borough Councillor in 2010, Geoff sat on environmental and transport boards, and during his year as Mayor of Warrington (2015/16), he proudly championed mental health awareness, helping to establish the Warrington Bipolar Support Group. Passionate about nature and wellbeing, he continues to advocate for conservation and currently serves as a Public Adviser to the Applied Research Collaboration of North West Universities.

Trustee

 Nikki Hartley

Born and raised in York but love led me to Warrington in 2019. I am a Chartered Certified Accountant with strong experience in performance reporting, payroll, VAT, bookkeeping and many other accounting functions. I’ve always been a big believer in helping others and when I heard about the trustee opportunity at Warrington VIP I jumped at the chance. It is my first trustee position and I’m very excited to get stuck in, sharing my experience and knowledge in Finance to help the charity continue to succeed.
